Blogging Clients: Advantages and Reviews

Written on October 12, 2007 – 1:30 pm | by Vikram |

For sometime now I have thought about using a desktop blogging client, as I had heard about the advantages of using one. After looking at a good amount of blogging clients (although, it was difficult to find the best of the lot), I decided that I.ll let everyone know the how can a blogging client benefit a blogger so that they can make use of the blogging softwares for making things simpler. I have listed the blogging clients I have worked with and listed the pros and cons, so that one can make the correct decision while selecting any client.

Now before I list the blogging clients that I have looked at, I would like to list the advantages of using a blogging client.

1. Back up: Desktop blogging clients keeps the published posts on the local hard drive and thus one has a backup of all the posts that have been written through the client. In a situation like data loss, you can rest assures that you would not lose any of your posts. Only comments will be lost, although, if you make the backup regularly then you don.t really have to worry but still it is good to have the posts backed up through blogging client as well.

2.Browser crash : Sometimes it happens that you are working on a post for quite sometime and suddenly the browser crashes. Although, WordPress has released the auto save feature but that comes with the newest version, some other blogging platforms may not have the auto save feature. Blogging clients have that feature, the fear of losing the posts gets low.

3. Spell Check: If you use Firefox, then this feature is already included and even in the online editor, you have the spell check option, which helps one to write a post without any speilling spelling errors.

4. Easy file uploading : Blogging clients easily integrate images and easily upload the images on the fly, while publishing the posts and thus one saves time and effort.

There are many more features and advantages, which a blogger can get when he uses a Blogging client. I always advice bloggers to try and use any one and they would find it a better option than the online editor. The list of some clients is given below and also their Pros and Cons:
